On Friday night at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California, 2012 Olympic Bronze medal winner, Taras “Real Deal” Shelestyuk, stopped Erick Martinez in a scheduled 10-round bout to win the vacant WBA International title.

Martinez did not come out after the third round. With the win, Shelestyuk remains undefeated, raising his perfect mark to 14-0 as he notched his ninth stoppage in the process.

Shelestyuk, already the WBO NABO Welterweight champion and ranked number-11 by the WBO, added more hardware for his mantle and will crack the WBA world ratings with the win.

“This was a very good win for Taras. We are now looking to move him to a more meaningful fight in August. He is ranked by the WBO and now will be in the WBA, so it looks like he will be back in the ring in August defending his titles,” said Banner Promotions President, Arthur Pelullo.

“Taras delivered a noteworthy performance that will no doubt lead to bigger fights down the road,” said Ken Thompson, who launched Thompson Boxing Promotions sixteen years ago this month. ” Taras is seen as an emerging talent. The impressive knockout win will certainly raise his national profile.”
