It may have been a little uneventful, but Anthony 'Million Dollar' Crolla produced a fabulous display to out think and outwork Willie Limond at the Ravenscraig Sports Centre in Glasgow on Friday night.

Both guys started the bout feeling one another out but Crolla kept a tight guard throughout and worked behind that, picking his openings carefully, looking the stronger puncher in the process. Limond's face was already red by the fourth round even though he was not in any significant trouble but he began to lose inspiration as the fight went on, only throwing out the jab and trying for the occasional hook. Things went black for both fighters in the seventh as a power cut interrupted the fight, darkening the whole arena for a short period. However, this did not disturb the tremendous focus of Crolla as he continued to steal rounds, going to the body with hurtful hooks and finishing to the head.

The winner was never in doubt as the final bell rang, and scores of 120-108,120-108 and 120-109 were all in favour of Anthony Crolla, who retained his British lightweight title and moved up to 23-2-0 (9 KO's). Limond now falls to 34-3-0 (8 KO's)

"I was very happy to get twelve rounds under my belt. Willie was very brave. If I could have got Willie out of there then I would have done", said Crolla afterward.

"The plan was to hit the body and it worked. I know what he's capable of. Twelve months from now he will be mentioned in the same breath as Kevin Mitchell and Ricky Burns. He's a kid on the rise", said Joe Gallagher, trainer of Crolla.

Former two weight world champion, Ricky Hatton was also impressed with his charge.

"I was very impressed. It was the first time he did twelve (rounds). It was a perfect performance."
