Andre Ward beat Carl Froch by unanimous decision at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City to end the  Super Six final tournament and win the silver up, picking cup the WBC strap to add to his WBA championship in the process.

Froch was dazzled by Ward's speed throughout the contest and was caught with numerous left hooks and jabs, both on the outside and inside which were most notable.  Perhaps surprisingly, Ward showed his macho side by tying up the British boxer and walked him to the ropes to apply all his weight on him which zapped some of the strength from the Englishman. Ward also showed plenty of variety of skills in his arsenal as he even traded with the hard hitting man that is known as 'The Cobra' and never looked once in trouble, often coming away from the exchanges better off as he finished with clean hooks to the head.

Both fighters took their time to think their punches very carefully throughout the contest, obviously in competion with one another to land the cleaner shots to catch the judges eyes, however, it was mostly Ward's night as it is difficult to think of a meaningful punch that was scored by the now former WBC super-middleweight champion.

Froch was evidently gasping for air from the eighth round onward, possibly attempting to recover from the exhaustion from having to ship the weight of Ward in previous rounds. By the twelfth round, there was little doubt as to who the winner was most likely going to be and this particular round did nothing to alter that probability as Ward tied up Froch to bide time, knowing that he had secured the match in his favour. The man from Nottingham's sense of urgency did him no favours as Froch was unable to find the punch to turn things around, and Ward's name being announced as the victor was inevitable.

Scores of 115-113 twice and 118-110 were heard to the delight of the 27 year old American, whose name was officially announced as the winner, securing his place as one of the best super-middleweights in the world and a future Pound for Pounder.

"It was a tough night. Carl Froch is a great fighter. We pulled it off tonight. I was surprised at how slow Froch was. I hurt him several times tonight, " said Ward.

When asked what it felt like to win the Super Six tournament, Ward responded, "I can't believe it. It's unbelievable. The UK fans are great."

Froch was humble in defeat.

"I had a bad night. He was very slippery. I was unable to let the shots go. I'll have a look at what options I have out there. I lost tonight fair and square."
