Groves stays undefeated
Last night at Manchester’s MEN Arena we saw a very talented George Groves take on Ghanaian Charles Adamu for the Commonwealth title.
Groves was only making his ninth appearance as a pro, many tipped this as a difficult fight for Groves and maybe to soon a step up. In the opening round Groves had the champion on the canvas with a terrific right hand shot. The experienced Ghanaian was down twice more before the referee Victor Loughlin stepped in at the end of the sixth round to stop the fight.
Adamu had a shaky start to the fight but was coming more into it as it progressed, the stoppage was very premature and for me the wrong decision.
With another impressive victory under Groves’ belt, he wasted no time in calling out Liverpool’s super-middleweight champion Paul Smith.
Groves announced, “My next fight needs to be Smith as I’m going to knock him out. I want that British title belt.”
