Mayweather beats Pacquiao

Well not in the the super-fight we are all hoping gets signed before Top Rank’s deadline of this Friday by midnight Saturday.

Floyd Mayweather beat out Manny Pacquiao and Georges St. Pierre for “Best Fighter” last night at ESPN’s annual award show “The ESPY’s”.  Even though Pacquiao won the BWAA (Boxing Writer’s Association of America) awards for “Fighter of the Year” and “Fighter of the Decade” in 2009, Floyd’s award victory is just a little bit sweeter.  While BWAA awards are voted by the boxing writers/critics only, the ESPY’s are voted by fans and fans only through online polls.

This marks Mayweather’s third award for “Best Fighter”, having last won the award in 2008.  Mayweather retired that same year and Manny Pacquiao took home the award in 2009 with Mayweather’s absence from the sport.
