Beibut Shumenov UD12 Vyacheslav Uzelkov – Uzelkov was able to score a perfectly timed left hook knockdown in the first round, but after that, it was all Shumenov. He may not have been the most accurate puncher, but the Kazakh threw at least three times as many punches as Uzelkov, and he was still landing more than enough to comfortably take almost every round. Shumenov was able to return the favor with a knockdown in the third round. Shumenov showed off extraordinary conditioning, averaging about 70 punches a round, getting full leverage into every single punch, all while outdoors in 110 degree heat. Uzelkov seemed snakebitten in this one – he was blinking wildly all fight, was missing his regular trainer and came in light at the scales, but there isn’t much of an excuse for throwing 20 punches a round (if that) in your title shot. In any case, after getting a gift decision against Gabriel Campillo, Shumenov proved he belongs among the top 10 in the light heavyweight division.
Rico Ramos UD8 Cuauhtemoc Vargas – Despite a fight in 115 degree heat directly in the sun, prospect Ramos took care of business and convincingly defeated the Mexican journeyman.
Gayrat Ahmedov KO1 Dallas Vargas – Ahmedov knocked out the normally sturdy journeyman with a hook to the body.
Shawn Estrada TKO1 Eddie Hunter – The 2008 Olympian moves to 7-0. Six of those fights ended by first round knockout. While he’s not super impressive to look at, he still has potential, and did manage to beat out guys like Danny Jacobs, Shawn Porter and Fernando Guerrero for his spot on the Olympic team.

Stuart Hall TKO10 Martin Power – Hall was able to retain his British bantamweight title in an entertaining but one-sided scrap.
Nigel Wright UD10 Dean Harrison – Wright won the Engligh light welterweight title.
Tony Jeffries D8 Michael Bambula – By most accounts, prospect Jeffries got a lot of help from the referee to escape this one with a draw. Jeffries was cut in the first round and just didn’t react well. Also, he just hasn’t been developing as a fighter since going pro. After the fight, he claimed he thought the fight was a 6 rounder to explain his poor performance.
Tyrone Wright TKO3 Jon Lewis Dickinson – It was a bad night for Frank Maloney prospects. The fight was stopped when Dickinson’s eye swelled shut. A rematch is already scheduled for two months from now.
Temecula, California
Craig McEwan SD10 Danny Perez – McEwan got a tougher fight than expected from Perez, who was able to land harder punches to counter McEwan’s greater workrate. While McEwan is trained by Freddie Roach, he doesn’t exactly have much regard for defense. By most accounts, the scores of 97-93. 97-93, 95-95 were relatively fair.
Charles Huerta TKO6 Jonathan Arias – The Fight Night Club veteran was able to batter Arias until knocking him down and then forcing a stoppage in the 6th.
