Warren shuffles the deck

Injuries to Ryan Rhodes and Darren Barker have forced promoter Frank Warren to shuffle his cards ahead of the ‘Magnificent Seven’.

The pair were due to contest European title fights on the Sky Box Office event in Birmingham on September 18, but have had to pull out.

Rhodes, who was due to make the second defence of the title he won against Jamie Moore last year, has suffered a back injury and has decided to relinquish the belt.

It means Manchester’s Matthew Hall gets a surprise chance to get his career back on track following last year’s defeat to Anthony Small, when he faces Lukas Konecny.

And Warren has also had to search for a new opponent for Matthew Macklin after British title holder Darren Barker suffered a hip injury.

Macklin will now take on Georgian Shalva Jomardashvili, who has won just once in his last four fights, for the vacant European middleweight crown.
