Manny Pacquiao is expected to choose his next opponent from a three-man shortlist later this week.
Promoter Bob Arum has already booked the MGM Grand Garden to stage the pound-for-pound king’s next fight on April 16, following November’s one-sided battering of Antonio Margarito, which left the Mexican needing surgery on a shattered eye socket.
Arum and trainer Freddie Roach will fly out to Manila later this week to hold talks with Pacquiao regarding terms and conditions from Shane Mosley, Andre Berto and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Former three weight champion Mosley appears to be in pole position due to Marquez’s wage demands for a third fight with Pacquiao, while WBC welterweight champion Berto lacks world wide recognition.
“We’ll present Manny with the information and, ultimately, it’s Manny’s decision who he fights,” confirmed Top Rank chairman Arum.
“We’ve talked to the other fighters and their promoters, so we know exactly where we stand.”
