British 6’9 heavyweight prospect, Tyson Fury took care of business tonight at Wembley Arena in London with a dominating fifth round stoppage of Brazilian, Marcelo Nascimento.

Nascimento started fast as soon as the bell rang, catching Fury with a stiff jab, however, Fury began to use his own jab, and hit him with right hands that quickly reddened Nascimento’s face. Around the midway mark of the round, Fury caught his opponent with a flush right hook that sent Nascimento to the canvas. He rose, looking comfortable to continue.

In round 2 Fury controlled his opponent from the outside, jabbing him mercilessly, but also ocassionally working the body. Nascimento looked bemused as the round came to a close.

Round 3 saw Fury display more of the same, jabbing his game challenger. Nascimento did try to fight back, but only with wildly missing haymakers.

Tyson stepped up the pressure in round 4, quickly countering Nascimento’s missing haymakers, and unloading huge right hooks on him but was still unable to move him.

The fifth round saw a conclusion to the fight as Fury stepped up the pressure even more, unloading right hook after right hook, and unwilling to stop until the hard hitting Nascimento hit the canvas. As the round came to a close, this became a reality as Fury caught the Brazilian with a huge right that knocked him to the canvas awkwardly, Nascimento first laying on his side, and then rapidly rolling on his stomach.

Paramedics immediately rushed into the ring to administer oxygen to him, and Nascimento was down for a few minutes until he regained his composure.

“He was a hard puncher. As soon as i hit him with that last punch, I knew it was goodnight. Derek Chisora has been avoiding me. Ask him why he doesn’t want to fight me. I’m the only man who’s game enough to fight anyone in the world.” said Fury.

Asked whether he wanted to fight for the European title, Fury stated: ” I don’t want the european title. I was born here, I live here, I’m British. Why should I fight for that?

A few moments later, Tyson Fury’s promoter, Mick Hennessy made it clear that his confidence is high in his charge.

“He’s going to win the heavyweight title, no problem!”
