Lara-Molina Prediction
Rising junior middleweight star Erislandy Lara will look to continue his push towards a world title shot when he faces renowned spoiler “King” Carlos Molina at Las Vegas, NV’s The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in the main event of this week’s ESPN 2’s Friday Night Fights.
Widely regarded amongst boxing’s best up-and-coming fighters, Lara was a star on the Cuban National Team, where he won various international tournaments prior to turning professional. He’s a better pure boxer and fights at a more balanced pace than most of his former teammates such as Yuriorkis Gamboa and Odlanier Solis. Lara is only 5’9, but fights like a man much taller since he relies on distance to set up much of his attack. Thus far, he’s a perfect 15-0 with 10 knockouts as a professional and outside of needing improvement on his inside fighting there isn’t a whole lot to criticize him about.
Lara’s last four bouts have ended by first round knockout and he’s definitely got the tools to become a future champion. His best victories to date are over former Contender champion Grady Brewer (TKO 10) and title challenger Danny Perez (UD 10).
