Former WBO super-featherweight champion, Roman Martinez will return to the ring on the undercard of Juan Manuel Lopez’s bout with Orlando Salido on April 16th.
Martinez was beaten by Scotland’s Ricky Burns and lost his WBO title. But his comeback bout against Luis Cruz will be no easy fight. Cruz has a record of 17 wins, 0 defeats and 14 knockouts. This bout is not a formality for Martinez, who decided not to take an easy route back. If he is successful against Cruz, he may look to have a rematch with Burns since their original match was a thrilling one! But other options do exist, as he may decide to face one of two alternative Japanese super-featherweight champions, Takashi Uchiyama or Takahiro Aoh, who hold the WBA and WBC titles, respectively.
