Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin Defends his Perfect Record as the Main Event, Live on Telefutura April 29th 2011
(Los Angeles, CA March 25, 2010) Undefeated Peter (Kid Chocolate) Quillin defends his perfect record of 23-0-17KO’s (15 of which were in the first round) against Jesse Brinkley in a super middleweight boxing match (165 pounds) on April 29 at the Reno Events Center in Nevada. Quillin is coming off a win over Dennis Sharpe via fourth-round TKO in February in Fairfield, California and is slated as one of the games top prospects.
Quillin, 27, who made his professional debut in 2005, began training with the legendary Freddie Roach at Wild Card Boxing gym in June 2010 prompting his relocation from New York City to Los Angeles. Roach is currently training Manny Pacquiao who is the first boxer in history to win 10 world titles in eight different weight divisions
Golden Boy Promotions signed the charismatic rising star in November 2010 after being sidelined for nearly two years due to injuries. His triumphant return to the ring against Fernando Zuniga (W10) landed him on the Hopkins vs. Pascal undercard Dec 18, 2010, which produced another KO against Martin Desjardins (KO1). Now back where he left off in 2008, Quillin, who adopted his “Kid Chocolate” nickname in tribute to the great Eligio Sardinias as well as his Cuban father and heritage, is beginning his run toward the top of the division.
Brinkley, 34, of Yerington, is 35-6-22 KOsBute by a ninth-round knockout in October in Montreal, Canada.
The Brinkley-Quillin fight will be televised live on Telefutura. The broadcast begins at 8 p.m., with the Brinkley-Quillin fight scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. The fight promoters are Let’s Get It On Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions. Don Chargin is the matchmaker.
