Fres Oquendo, a former sparring partner to David Haye, will be joining the international ‘Prizefighter’ that takes place on May 7th.
Oquendo has fought such great names as Evander Holyfield and James Toney but has suffered two defeats in his last two fights. His last bout was against former heavyweight champion, Oliver McCall for the vacant IBF inter-contintental heavyweight title and Oquendo lost by a split decision. Before that, he lost a unanimous points decision to Jean Marc Mormeck but only lost by a single point on two of the judges score cards.
Promoter, Barry Hearns said, “Adam made the call saying that David thought Fres deserved a shot at Prizefighter,’ said Hearn. ‘Fres has been in with some of the biggest names in boxing and how can I turn down a request from our own heavyweight champion!”
The international ‘Prizefighter’ tournament will be shown live on Sky Sports.
