Erik Morales’s old foe, Marco Antonio Barrera stated in an interview that Morales looked almost like his old self when he fought Marcos Maidana last Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Speaking to boxingscene.com, Barrera said, “It was a very good fight. It almost looked like the Morales of old as his boxing skill proved to be better than Maidana’s, and I think that was the difference in the fight.”
Barrera was given the opportunity to state whether he, himself, has anything left in the tank, to which he responded, “It makes me want to show what I can do, as well. I believe I have a lot left and will show it when I get the opportunity. I am willing to fight anyone!”
The ambition of becoming the first Mexican boxer to win titles in four weight divisions is still hot in his mind.
“My goal is to win that fourth division title and be the first Mexican champion to win titles in four weight divisions. However, a move to 140 would not be out of the equation if the circumstances were right. It would have to be a big fight, though,” Barrera said.
