Klitschko vs Haye confirmed for Hamburg

Wladimir Klitschko has confirmed that he will be fighting WBA heavyweight champion, David Haye at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany on July 2nd.

A 50-50 purse split has been agreed upon between both fighters and they will compete against one another at the 57,000 arena. Haye has not fought since his Pay Per View circus match with British flop, Audley Harrison in November, 2010, while Wladimir’s last bout came against Samuel Peter in September. Wladmir’s proposed bout against Dereck Chisora was cancelled twice with the IBF, WBO and IBO champion claiming a back injury both times.

David Haye wants to retire by the time he reaches 31 in October, but with the bout with Wladimir taking place in July, it doesn’t look likely he will be able to unify the division in time since he will be more or less having to go back into training to fight Vitali if he beats the younger brother.

This may delay retirement plans until, at least, the end of 2011 for him, especially more so considering Vitali is negotiating for a defense against Tomasz Adamek, a bout that may take place in September.
