It’s our vision at prospect boxing to once again make Lanarkshire the hub of Scottish boxing by providing all action quality bouts featuring local boxers and keep the costs at an affordable level that allows boxing fans to come to the event and watch exciting contests on a regular basis.
All going well, we anticipate running at least quarterly events such as this one as well as two or three small hall shows in and around the area every year.
It gives us great pleasure to work with the other two major promoters in Scotland, Tommy Gilmour and Alex Morrison by using their Lanarkshire based boxers on our next Promotion.
As well as Paul Allison, Stranraer, John McCallum, Edinburgh and Stephen Russell from Paisley we have
Chris Steel Coltness
Kenny Davidson Wishaw
Mark Bett Muirehouse
Alexander White Uddingston (Alex Morrison)
John Downie Newarhill (Tommy Gilmour)
Stephen Banks Jerviston. (Tommy Gilmour)
Most of these boxers are at the start of their careers so now is the time to come out and support them, we’re looking to unearth the next Walter McGowan, Barry Morrison, Chic Calderwood, Johnny Morrisey or John Fisher and need your support by coming to the events.
John Swanson, the facilities manager at the Ravenscraig Sports centre is also on the board of the British Boxing Board of Control and has been instrumental in bringing boxing back to the area.
As Lanarkshire has been recognised as European City of Sport for 2011, he has organised for the Lord Provost of Motherwell Cllr Tom Curley to make a special presentation to WBO super featherweight Champion who has been named Lanarkshire’s European Sports personality of the year before the main event of the evening.
It just keeps getting bigger and better.
