GLENDALE, CALIF. (May 16, 2011) – Hall of Fame Promoter BOB ARUM and undefeated No. 1 super welterweight contender and former U.S. Olympian VANES “The Nightmare” MARTIROSYAN will host a Media Luncheon followed by a Media Workout in Glendale, Calif. This Thursday! May 19. The Media Lunch will be held at Phoenicia Restaurant (343 North Central Ave., Glendale, Calif. 91203), beginning at Noon PT. Martirosyan’s Media Workout will take place at the Glendale Fighting Club (601 South Brand Blvd., Glendale, Calif. 91205), beginning at 1:30 p.m. PT. Interviews will take place before the workout.

Martisosyan (29-0, 18 KOs), world-rated No. 1 by the WBO and No. 4 by the WBC and IBF, is a native of Armenia, now residing in Glendale. He is in his last weeks of intense training for his 12-round WBC super welterweight title elimination bout against Top-10 contender Saul Roman (34-8, 29 KOs), of Culiacan, México. The Martisosyan-Roman rumble will take place on Saturday, June 4, on the non-televised undercard of “The Son Also Rises: Sebastian Zbik vs. Julio César Chávez Jr. World Middleweight Championship” at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

Zbik vs. Chávez, Jr. will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). The world championship event will be highlighted by a celebration of the boxing career of Julio César Chávez, who will be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame the following week.
