Graham Earl chats to Ringnews24 about a possible rematch with Michael Katsidis

Ringnews24.com: You are now a Promoter working day to day with your fighters has this gave you a burning desire to get back in the ring again?

Graham Earl: No I throughly enjoy promoting, my aim is to make future champions within the boxing game, however for me Katsidis has always been a thorn in my side, that unanswered question, what if I had of been allowed to continue; would I have had enough in the tank to win.

Ringnews24.com: You have lost four times in your career – to the current WBO champ Ricky Burns, current WBA champ Amir Khan, Henry Castle and Michael Katsidis – why replay the Katsidis fight?

Graham Earl: I can make excuses all day as to why I lost the above fights, but with Katsidis i know I had trained correctly, done the weight right, good sparring etc, so Katsidis vs Earl two I will be training even harder than for the first one. I know i am older, 2 years out of the ring, so I will need to be on form. Michael is a warrior, he has been in some tough battles since me, I, on the other hand have had time out. So, we will see who is the fresher man.

Ringnews24.com: Where would you train for this fight and who with?

Graham Earl: No decisions have been made as yet. I have my own boxing gym in Luton, but we have to finalise all details regarding the fight first then we will sit down and discuss the plan for training and by whom I will be trained by.

Ringnews24.com: What would you try do differently in the rematch?

Graham Earl: That’s easy Win!

Ringnews24.com: You have been retired since June 2009 which is 2 years next month. Do you feel you need a warm-up fight to get rid of any ring rust before taking on Katsidis?

Graham Earl: No, I am coming out of retirement for him and him alone!

Ringnews24.com: Many boxing fans have expressed concern about your desire for a rematch, citing your subsequent KO losses and time out of the ring. How do you respond to that?

Graham Earl: They do not have to watch it if they feel that way, this is something I want to do!

Ringnews24.com: Let’s say you fight and beat Katsidis, what will the future hold for you?

Graham Earl: As before my focus will be on the Promotions, building champions of the future, My Gym ‘The House Of champions’ in Luton and my family as always.

Ringnews24.com: And if you were to lose, would you retire or keep on fighting?

Graham Earl: It would definitely be the end for me in the ring.

Ringnews24.com: If the Katsidis fight doesn’t come off will you stay retired or look at other fighters, like a rematch with WBO champ Ricky Burns?

Graham Earl: Stay retired.
