Atlantic City, New Jersey – The following are the complete results of the Carl Froch versus Glen Johnson undercard fights held in the Boardwalk Hall and Arena last Saturday night.
The night started with a six round light heavyweight battle between Badou Jack ( 5-0, 4 KO’s) of Las Vegas, NV and Hajro Sujak (6-1, 2KO’s) of Bronx, NY. The fight started with the two exchanging heavy blows but the stronger and more versatile unbeaten Jack landed more telling blows on the Bronx native. The fight ended in the 1:30 second period of the 5th round when Sujak’s corner threw in the towel after witnessing their ward take in more punishment. Jack improved his undefeated record to 6-0.
The second fight was a six round junior welterweight bout between Ivan Redkach (6-0, 5 KO’s) of Los Angeles, CA and Catalona, Puerto Rico’s Alberto Amaro (6-5, 2 KO’s). The taller Redkach dropped the tough Puerto Rican in the 5th round but was saved by the bell. He finished the job in the next and final round after referee Steve Smoger stepped in the action to stop the fight after seeing that Amaro is unable to defend himself. The time of stoppage was 1:46 seconds of the 6th. Redkach also improved his unbeaten record with the win.
Another undefeated fighter in junior middleweight J’Leon Love (6-0, 5 KO’s) of Detroit, MI reigned over Lamar Harris (6-7-3, 4 KO’s) of St. Louis, MO. The stronger Love dropped Harris in the opening round of the scheduled 4 rounder and knocked him the second time with a left hook in round 3. He won all 4 rounds with a UD victory on all of the judges cards . It was a 40-35 sweep for the Detroit native. He also improved to a perfect record of 7-0.
The next fight features another unbeaten fighter and former light heavyweight (WBO) and cruiserweight (WBC) titleholder Zsolt Erdei (32-0, 17 KO’s) of Fot, Hungary. Fighting against a sizable and loud Hungarian audience that chanted his nickname of “ Madar, Madar” , Erdei scored a 6th round TKO win over Byron Mitchell (28-7-1, 21 KO’s) of Dotham, AL to add another victory in his perfect record. He floored Saunders twice in the 6th with hard punches that found its mark on the Pittsburg fighter. Referee Eddie Cotton halted the fight at the 1:58 period of the 6th much to delight of his countrymen and fans that cheered him throughout this fight. This is his second straight victory in this same venue.
The final undercard fight was also the night’s co-feature bout with former Colombian prospect Edison Miranda in his comeback fight after his knockout loss to Lucian Bute more than a year ago in Montreal, Canada. He prevailed upon Rayco Saunders (20-13,-2, 8 KO’s) of Pittsburg, PA with a UD win on all of the three judge’s score cards. This is his return in the light heavyweight class after a lackluster showing in the super middleweight division with loses to Bute and Andre Ward. The scores were 80-73 and 79-73 twice.
