Boxing Hall of Famer and ring legend Marvellous Marvin Hagler, has this week expressed his views on the ongoing and tiresome saga of Floyd Mayweather Jnr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.
No one doubts that the potential match-up, is the biggest that can be made in boxing today but while fans debate and speculate over who is too blame for this ‘Super-Fight’ not happening. Former Undisputed Middleweight King Marvellous Marvin Hagler has no doubts and expressed his candid views in an interview with ESPN.
Hagler had been attending the 2011 Hall of Fame induction, which saw Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez and Kostya Tszyu inducted at the IBHOF at Canastota, N.Y. when he gave his views.
Marvin said: ‘Here’s a guy (Mayweather), that wants to dictate to another person and wants to tell you what he wants to do.
‘You know, ‘I want you to take this drug test and all these things and whatever.’ I think that Pacquiao is right… I mean, who are you? If you want to fight, let’s fight. Let’s stop all this nonsense!
‘I believe that if they get this thing on, it can really boost up boxing and bring boxing alive a little bit. These are the kind of fights that we need to see,’. Well, there’s a lot more money now than it was when I was fighting. Just think about it. There’s a hundred-million-dollar fight, there’s no one in the history of boxing that ever made this kind of money.”
Hagler has been in some legendary ‘Super-Fights’ and never ducked a challenge and his thoughts on this matter hold a lot of weight; though its us fans that still have to wait for this fight to get made. Here’s hoping it does.
