NEW YORK (September 19, 2011) — Three-division world champion and the Pride of Puerto Rico MIGUEL COTTO, professional rival and three-time welterweight world champion ANTONIO “The Tijuana Tornado” MARGARITO, World Bantamweight Champion NONITO “The Filipino Flash” DONAIRE and Hall of Fame promoter BOB ARUM will host a New York news conference luncheon Tomorrow! Tuesday, Sept. 20, at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th St., New York, NY 10036.) The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET with the news conference starting at Noon ET. They will be announcing their upcoming Top Rank-promoted world title fights at The Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden.
Donaire (26-1, 18 KOs), a native of General Santos City, Philippines, who lives in the Bay Area of San Leandro, Calif., will make his Big Apple debut on Saturday, October 22 when he defends his title against undefeated two-division world champion Omar “El Huracán” Narvaez (35-0-2, 23 KOs), of Cordoba, Argentina. Donaire-Narvaez will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast.)
Cotto (36-2, 29 KOs), from Caguas, Puerto Rico, will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title against Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs), of Tijuana, México, on Saturday, December 3, in their long-awaited world championship rematch Cotto-Margarito II will be produced and distributed Live by HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. New York is the second stop of the Cotto-Margarito II four-city media tour which begins today in Puerto Rico and will continue on to México City and Los Angeles later this week.
