Hi John, on behalf of RingNews24.com and our readers, thank you for taking the time to talk to us. As well as our own, we have included questions provided by fans on the RingNews Forum.

Ringnews24.com: How did you get into boxing and what age did you start going to the gym?

John McCallum: I got into boxing through my grandad John McCallum senior and I was about 5 year old when I started training.

Ringnews24.com: Who has been the biggest influence in your career so far ?

John McCallum: My grandad.

Ringnews24.com: What was your amateur record and did you win anything as an amateur boxer?

John McCallum: 138 wins from 147 fights. won 7x scottish titles.

Ringnews24.com: Do you miss fighting as an amateur?

John McCallum:  Not really pro game more suited to me.

Ringnews24.com: How did you find the step up from amateur to professional boxer?

John McCallum: I found it a better game but it takes up more of your time in the pros.

Ringnews24.com: Your favourite boxing memory to date?

John McCallum: Winning my 1st scottish title at the age of 11.

Ringnews24.com: Who is your dream opponent you would like to fight at your weight level?

John McCallum: I would like to fight cornelius k9 bunderage because he is IBF World Champ and he beat my trainer Colin McNeil in the contender.

Ringnews24.com: Who is your Favorite boxer and why?

John McCallum: Floyd Mayweather because he talks the talk but backs it up in style.

Ringnews24.com: What fighter of today would you say your style is mostly like?

John McCallum: Saul Alvarez.

Ringnews24.com: Is it tough to go full time and do you have to be more flexible to make a living from the sport?

John McCallum: Yeah its hard trying 2 train everyday and earn a living.

Ringnews24.com: What sort of level do you hope to reach?

John McCallum: World level.

Ringnews24.com: Your record now stands at 3-0 how do you feel your first three fights have went?

John McCallum: I feel they have went well , ive had a few injuries in the past year so just happy ive managed to have the 3 fights at the same time.

Ringnews24.com: How is training and preparation going for your fight against Chris Brophy ?

John McCallum: Training is going relly well I’m hopeing for my 1st ko and to really impress.

Ringnews24.com: Fellow Scotsman Ricky Burns is stepping up in weight to take on Michael Katsidis, who wins this one and why?

I really hope Ricky wins , it’s gonna be a hard first 6 rounds but I hope Ricky’s boxing skill and stamina pulls him through to win on points.

Ringnews24.com: Another Scotsmans fighting soon is Paul Appleby, he takes on the  undefeated Liam Walsh,  how do you see that fight going?

Pauls got alot of heart , I’ve known Paul since I was 10 years old and I defo think he can go down their and beat Liam Walsh.
