Watch the World Amateur Championships Live on Boxnation from tommorow

LIVE on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456) starting tomorrow (Wed 5 Oct) is the quarter-finals of the World Amateur Championships from Baku in Azerbaijan.

The semi-finals (Fri 7 Oct) and final (Sat 8 Oct) will also be televised LIVE on the UK’s first and only dedicated fight channel – Boxnation.

Eight British boxers in seven weight divisions will compete today in the last-16 stage of the tournament.

Boxers in eight of the ten weights can qualify for London 2012 if they reach the quarter-finals; if they lose to the eventual winner it will also qualify the boxer for the Olympics.

The first Brit to confirm his place next year is Liverpool light-welterweight ace Tom Stalker who beat Russia’s Alexander Solyanikov today.

Top prospects Luke Campbell, Anthony Agogo, Fred Evans and Kalid Yafai or Andrew Selby could also qualify.

The exciting heavyweight talent Simon Vallily and dynamite-punching super-heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua must reach the semi finals to secure a place in London.

Currently WBO Intercontinental Welterweight Champion and top ten ranked Frankie Gavin, who headlines a BoxNation show on Friday 28th October, is the only British boxer to ever win Gold at the tournament held in Chicago in 2007.
