Dereck Chisora has a golden opportunity to win the European Heavyweight title when he takes on unbeaten Robert Helenius for the vacant belt next month.
Londoner Chisora will face Helenius at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, on December 3rd, on a show headlined by the WBA World Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetikin’s defence against Cedric Boswell.
Both fights will be televised LIVE and exclusive in the UK on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456) on a massive night of boxing that includes John Murray’s challenge for the WBA World Lightweight title against champion Brandon Rios LIVE from Madison Square Garden.
Chisora returned to the ring last two weeks’ ago in Halifax when he beat Remigius Ziausys over eight-rounds – his first fight since losing his British and Commonwealth titles to Tyson Fury in July.
Helenius, known as “The Nordic Nightmare” is unbeaten in 16 fights and has KO’d ten out of his last 11 opponents, with former world champions Siarhei Liakhovich, Samuel Peters and Lamon Brewster all stopped early.
It’s a big task for the 27-year-old Finchley puncher, but he’s confident he can cause an upset in Finland’s capital.
“I’m surprised Helenius’ people wanted me to fight their unbeaten golden boy, they must be going on my performance in my last fight and think I’m easy pickings,” Said Chisora.
“Believe me, this is the biggest mistake they have made with his career and I’ll be going over to Finland to knock him clean out,”
“He’s called the Nordic Nightmare, but he’ll be having nightmares about me for the rest of his life after I’ve left him flat out on the canvas,”
“I’ll be fit and ready for this fight like never before, it’s the big fight I need to really get my juices flowing and performing like I know I can,”
“I can’t wait for December 3 and winning that European title and bringing it back to Britain.”
