Edison Miranda “I could beat up the 23 wins he has in one weekend, is he proud of himself?”

Ringnews24.com last spoke to you in May when your short term goals were to take the belt from Travois Cloud and then unify the belts with Jean Pascal, it hasn’t exactly went to plan, what are your current goals and what does the future hold for Miranda?

Yes, I had a setback with the disqualification from my fight with Despaigne.  It is unfortunate for the fans as they were the one’s robbed from what was turning into a nice battle. I still feel like I owe Despainge a beating and would consider that as my next fight unless something better comes up.  I want to keep active and continue my KO streak, I really do not like this Cuban fighter.  It would give me pleasure to hit him with my rocks.  He has a big head, I couldn’t miss him if I was blindfolded.  This fight is scheduled for 6 weeks from now so it will keep me busy.  I am hoping that Welshman would have the heart to fight Edison Miranda. The more I talk about it, the more he seems to have disappeared in the mountains. Who has this guy beaten to be called a champion?

After my fight on the Ward/Froch undercard all the Froch fans from England told me to go over there and kick their fellow countryman’s ass. They call him a paper champion. If I were to come to Wales the fans would be happy to see me and by the end of the fight the entire crowd would be cheering for PANTERA!

Your fresh off a TKO win over WBO #7 light heavyweight Kariz Kariuki,  how do you think the fight went, were you happy with your performance?

I felt great in this fight.  I trained as hard as ever and making 175lbs was easy.  I was strong and the punches that hit me didn’t phase me.  Nathan Cleverly hits like a girl.  I would let him hit me 5 times and laugh at him before I showed him what it feels like to get hit by a horse.

Boxrec.com has you fighting Yordanis Despaigne on the 3rd of February, with Cleverly looking to fight on the 25th February, would you fight in both fights or re-arrange the Despaigne fight?

If I was given the opportunity to fight on Feb 25th for the title than all my training would be for that fight.  Despainge does nothing for my career, only for my personal satisfaction.  Edison Miranda want’s a belt and I would be happy to take it from the Chinatown champion in Wales.

You were disqualified against Despaigne how do you feel about the decision? and what would you do different in the potential rematch?

It was horrible,  I watched the film,  My shots were borderline. Despainge acted like a baby.  If I looked at his trunks he went down on one knee and cried, any boxing fan knows that during a fight low shots can happen, most refs tell fighters to keep them up.  They don’t disqualify someone for 3 borderline shots.  One week earlier the same ref gave a KO win to Amir Khan for the same shot as he disqualified me for.  It was a joke.

You recently said in a press release “Cleverly will feel stupid when I’m done with him.” what do you believe you have in your locker that 23 opponent’s have failed with?

I could beat up the 23 wins he has in one weekend, is he proud of himself?, He will not just lose his precious belt if I fight him, he will lose his fans as well.

If the Cleverly fight doesn’t come off what’s next for Miranda?

Like I said, I am taking it day by day.  If Despainge still wants a beating then that may be next.

Message for the fans?

I have some of the best fans in boxing.  I am blessed to have them stick with me through the good and the bad.  The reason I train so hard is to try to give all fans what they are paying for.  I have one KO of the year on my resume and I hope to give the fans another in 2012.
