George Groves and Kenny Anderson are both predicting an early night when they clash on Friday 16th March at the Wembley Arena.
British Super-Middleweight Champion Groves makes the second defence of his title against the tough Edinburgh man in a return of their thriller in November 2010.
They clashed at the weigh-in and in an explosive fight Groves hit the floor before he came back to stop Anderson in the sixth round.
The rivals met face-to-face today to promote the fight which will be live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546) and they both agree it won’t go the distance.
“Anderson is a tough fighter, but I’ve come on since we last fought and I can’t see him going as far as the sixth round this time, he’ll go earlier,”
“I’m expecting a tough fight, I’m not underestimating him and he’s going to want to prove that the last time was a mistake,”
“I’ve beaten DeGale and Smith and now I’ve got to beat Groves before I move onto the next level.”
Anderson said, “It really hurt when he beat me, but I’ve got myself into the mandatory position and got the fight with Groves again,”
“I can’t see this fight going all the way, with the way me and Groves fight it’s going to be an early for one of us, but I’m going to make sure it’s not me,”
“It will be a hard fight, but I know what I did wrong last time and I’ve rectified the mistakes, this time I’ll be coming away the winner.”
Promoter Frank Warren said, “This is a fight that the public want to see again and I’m delighted that we’ve got it on and it will be live on BoxNation,”
“I promote George and of course I will be looking for him to come through this fight and we’ll have something big lined up for him next.”
Chief-support on the show will be former British Light-Middleweight Champion Sam Webb against big-punching former Commonwealth Champion Matthew Hall in an eliminator for the British title.
The undercard features unbeaten Hatfield middleweight Billly Joe Saunders; hot prospect Frank Buglioni from Enfield; welterweight Dean Byrne from Mile End and Penge welterweight Bradley Skeete.
Tickets, priced at £40, £50, £75, £100 and £150, are available from the Wembley Arena Box Office on 0844 815 0815 or www.wembleyarena.co.uk
