Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba is Ready to go to War with Edison Miranda

When South Africa’s world ranked light heavyweight contender, Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba (18-1-1, 9 KOs), steps in the ring on February 3, 2012, against Edison “Pantera” Miranda (35-6, 30 KO’s), he’s going to have bad intentions on his mind.

Chilemba, DiBella Entertainment’s rising star, went on to say, “I have a great deal of respect Edison Miranda, he’s a worthy opponent, but I’m coming to make a statement come fight night. There is no room for error, and I’m not going to leave it up to the judges to decide the outcome. Make no mistake about it…I’m gunning for a knockout.”

Damian Ramirez who manages Chilemba stated, “Isaac is very determined and ready to take his career to the next level. This fight is a great opportunity for him to showcase his skills on a national level. Miranda is a proven warrior and he’s going to leave everything in the ring, that’s why this fight is going to be great for the fans in attendance and those watching on TV.”

Training out of the St. Pete Boxing Club in Florida with famed coach Dan Birmingham, Isaac continued, “Training camp has been rough, but at this level nothing comes easy. I’ve been working hard on some new training techniques and I know I’m getting better every day. Sparring has been great and Dan has given me the perfect game plans to come out victorious. He’s the best trainer in boxing.”

Promoter Lou DiBella commented saying “This is Isaac’s chance to immediately enter the top echelon of the light heavyweight division.”

In the night’s fantastic eight-round co-main event, 21-year-old lightweight Hylon Williams Jr. (15-0, 3 KOs) of Las Vegas will face off against 25-year-old Cuban power-punching sensation Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (14-0, 11 KOs) in a rare battle of up-and-coming undefeated prospects.

Expect fireworks, as both fighters were highly decorated amateurs and both have been pegged for future big deeds. Williams is highly skilled with blazing fast hands, while Barthelemy is building a reputation for his punching power.

And, amazingly, the televised middle bout will feature yet another “someone’s 0 must go” battle of unbeaten prospects, as fast-rising heavyweight sensation Magomed Abdusalamov (12-0, 12 KOs) Moscow, Russia, will face Cubas Pedro Rodriguez (8-0, 6 KOs). Rodriguez will be looking to spring a minor upset of sorts, as the highly touted Abdusalamov is a former 2005 and 2006 Russian amateur champion at super heavyweight.

More exciting undercard bouts will be announced shortly.
