BoxNation (Sky Ch. 456/Virgin Ch. 546), the UK’s only dedicated boxing channel, will televise a sensational world-title doubleheader featuring superstars Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Nonito Donaire this Saturday (4 February) live from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Undefeated WBC World Middleweight Champion and Son of the Legend, Chavez Jr, will defend his title for the second time against the number one contender Marco Antonio Rubio.
In the joint main-event, four-time world champion and top five pound-for-pound best Nonito Donaire, “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, goes for a world title in fourth weight division when he challenges Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. for the Vacant WBO World Super-Bantweight title.
Earlier in the evening BoxNation will televise live from Frankfurt, Germany, the eagerly awaited rematch between Steve Cunningham and Yoan Pablo Hernandez for the IBF World Cruiserweight title.
BoxNation viewers’ saw Hernandez controversially win the title last October when the fight was stopped in the sixth round because of a head-butt by Cunningham that opened a cut above Hernandez’s left temple.
It was later ruled by the IBF that the cut wasn’t bad enough to stop the fight and a rematch was ordered.
Live coverage from Germany starts at 7.30pm with the action live from America starting at 2am on Sunday morning.
There’s more live action on Friday (3 February) with Commonwealth Light-Heavyweight Champion Ovill McKenzie defending his title against Tony Dodson at the Bowler’s Exhibition Centre in Manchester starting at 8pm.
