Kerry Hope to face Greg Proksa for Euro belt
Welshman earns title shot in Sheffield on March 17
Greg Proksa will defend his European middleweight title against Kerry Hope on March 17 at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, live on Sky Sports.
The unbeaten Redhill-based Pole will take on the Welshman as part of a top class undercard ahead of Kell Brook’s welterweight showdown with Matthew Hatton, defending his title for the first time since taking it from Sebastian Sylvester with a dominant performance in the German’s hometown, forcing Sylvester to quit on his stool after the third round.
Hope enters the contest on the back of a fantastic victory on Sky Sports against hard-hitting Tony Hill in a British middleweight title eliminator in Bolton in October, the fourth win in a row after returning to action from 16 months out and teaming up with new trainer Karl Ince.
Proksa’s defence is part of a fantastic undercard featuring Carl Frampton’s second Commonwealth super bantamweight title defence, former British welterweight champion Lee Purdy aims to get back on track against Nottingham’s Adnan Amar, Islington middleweight prospect John Ryder aims to take his unbeaten record into double figures against Huddersfield danger man Alistair Warren, who fought for the WBC Youth World title in 2010.
Amateur star Scott Cardle makes his professional debut at Lightweight on the night, while unbeaten Dudley Middleweight Ryan Aston faces Barnsley’s Lee Noble and Sheffield Heavyweight David Howe also features.
“Kerry has worked hard for this shot and he’ll give absolutely everything to take Grzegorz title from him,” said Promoter Eddie Hearn. “He’s already put in a big order for tickets and the Welsh fight fans will be right behind him.
“It’s a fantastic undercard, one that a huge fight like Brook vs. Hatton deserves, and there is one more fight to be added which we will be announcing later this week.”
Limited tickets for Kell Brook vs. Matthew Hatton plus a full championship undercard now remain priced £30 and £100 from the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield Box Office on 0114 256 5656 and at www.motorpointarenasheffield.co.uk.
£40, £60 and £150 VIP tickets have now sold-out.
