Ringnews24.com: Which fighters were been the biggest influence on your career?
Jeff Mayweather: My two older brothers Floyd Sr and Roger because they were the only fighters I looked up too because I was always around them both.
Ringnews24.com: As a professional you fought a lot of great boxers, who would you say was the toughest guy you fought?
Jeff Mayweather: The toughest guy I fought in terms of namesake and accomplishments was Oscar Dela Hoya but my actual toughest fight in terms of me being a little swollen up and had some wounds from the fight was against a guy named Jesus Rodriguez he was an undefeated Mexican champion.
Ringnews24.com: Did you ever enter the ring badly prepared or as a late substitute and against Who?
Jeff Mayweather: Yes against Joey Gamache I took that fight on a two day notice back then it was U.S.A Tuesday Night Fights. My manager knocked on my door on a Sunday – I had just got through making love to my woman at that time and he asked me would if I like to fight Tuesday night against Joey Gamache because the guy that was supposed to fight him got into a bad motorcycle accident. I only asked one question “how much?” he said “$10.000.00”. I said “I’m in”. I lost a decision to him in his hometown, did pretty well in the fight – Considering.

Ringnews24.com: As a trainer, what side of a fighter’s game do you prefer to concentrate on?

Ringnews24.com: Which fighter has been the best to train in terms of their effort and commitment?
Jeff Mayweather: Sultan Ibragimov whom became Heavyweight Champion under my tutor-ledge I took a complete banger and turned him into a master boxer he went on to capture the Title from one of my former fighters Shannon Briggs.

Jeff Mayweather: I don’t rate trainers. I don’t compare myself to anyone else, I know there are a lot of good trainers out there and also a lot of bad ones too but a trainer sometimes is only as good as the commodity he’s working with but I think any trainer that can take a fighter to a World Championship is a damn good trainer but I never rate trainers that’s for the fans to judge or fighters to judge. You never here me proclaim I’m the best at anything that doesn’t mean I don’t believe that I am – That’s just not my thing.
