Kirkland to undergo surgery

Light-middleweight power puncher, James Kirkland will reportedly undergo surgery later today to repair two tears in his right shoulder after fighting Carlos Molina in what turned out to be a rough fight for the pair.

Molina was disqualified in controversial circumstances when  he was knocked down at the bell of the tenth round. His trainer stepped into the ring for the one minute rest but referee, Jon Schorle disqualifed the Mexican because of the move. Molina and his team have requested that a rematch take place but it’s likely that Kirkland will want to move on from this nightmare after looking like he was going to lose the bout on points.

Kirkland is expected to be out of the ring for at least three months to allow his shoulder to heal.
