Denis Lebedev fighting Jean-Marc Mormeck in June

WBA Interim Cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev will fight former WBA and WBC Cruiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck in Paris, France in June.

Russian Lebedev recently retained his belt with an explosive second round knock-out over Barbadian challenger Shawn Cox on Wednesday evening, in Russia.

The Russian’s promoter Vladimir Hrunov announced that “Denis’ next fight will take place in Paris in the first week of June with the Frenchman Jean-Marc Mormeck.”

Frenchman Mormeck, who turns 40 in June, was easily beaten by Wladimir Klitschko in a Heavyweight title shot. Mormeck (36-5, 22 KOs) hardly threw or landed any punches and was easily defeated in four rounds.

Lebedev (24-1, 18 KOs) is an exciting, tough fighter but his last few fights have all been against opponents well past their prime and the trend continues with this latest fight.

On the upcoming fight Lebedev said “It’s time for Mormeck. That means we’ll get ready for him.”

It will be Mormecks first fight at cruiserweight since a Knockout defeat, in 2007, to David Haye.
