The king of boxing Floyd Mayweather’s retirement is likely to come in the not-too-distant future, and with that in mind he is showing early signs that he means business with Mayweather Promotions.
Sources close to Ringnews24 can confirm that super middleweight Andre Dirrell is being lined up to sign for Mayweather Promotions. Dirrell’s contract with Gary Shaw Promotions has expired and he is expected to sign with Mayweather Promotions any day now.
Dirrell’s last fight was against Darryl Cunningham on the 30th December 2011, which he won by a second-round KO.
With Dirrell competing in one of boxing’s hottest divisions, Mayweather will be looking to create some exciting match-ups for the fans. Possibilities include a rematch with Froch – the only man to [controversially] beat Dirrell. There is also Bute, Pavlik, Stieglitz, Abraham, Groves, Rodriguez to name a few and let’s not forget the Super Six Champion Andre Ward.
Sources close to Ringnews24 say that Mayweather Promotions are also desperate to sign Yuriorkis Gamboa, but he seems tied up with Top Rank for the foreseeable.
Currently in Mayweather’s stable are Jessie Vargas, Ishe Smith, Deandre Latimore and Mayweather himself.
