Andreas Evensen Interview: Casey will be a hell of a fight

Ringnews24.com: Your next fight is on the 21st of April against Ireland’s Willie Casey in Denmark. How did the fight come about?

Andreas Evensen: I was scheduled to fight Tomas Villa from Mexico but he had an injury, so we had to find a new opponent. Willie Casey stepped up so that´s how it went.

Ringnews24.com: Could you tell us a little bit about your training camp – where have you been training, sparring partners, how you rate it compared to other camps?

Andreas Evensen:I´ve been staying in shape since my last fight in February and we have had some massive hard training for this fight as well. The training camp is going great in Melhus, in our gym. We have a sparring partner from Liverpool and he´s really pushing me to the limit. That is a good thing because our philosphy is to train hard and fight easy. Don ´t get me wrong, every fight is hard but then you need to train harder.

Ringnews24.com: Having fought away in your career several times, do you feel the experience will help you on the night?

Andreas Evensen: I´m used to travelling for the fights so that is not a new experience, but it´s always a new place and a new experience.

Ringnews24.com: This will be the third time you have fought in Denmark – how were the previous experiences, and how do you find the Danish fans?

Andreas Evensen: I don´t think I have too many Danish fans yet, but hopefully I´ll have some after this fight!

Ringnews24.com: Have you seen much footage of Willie Casey? What do you think of him as a fighter?

Andreas Evensen: I’ve seen some clips from his fights. Irish boxers, they always come to fight and he´s been a European champion as well. I don´t take nothing from him, but I have to overcome boxers like Casey to reach my main goal in boxing, which is to be a world champion. There´s nothing more to it than that!

Ringnews24.com: This will be your third title fight – how much would it mean to you to win the WBA International Featherweight Title?

Andreas Evensen: It’s always nice with a new belt, but as I´ve said before: This is just one step to the main goal I´m aiming for and that is the world title!

Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction for the fight?

Andreas Evensen: I don´t like to predict my fights, but I think it will be a hell of a fight, where I am the one who can raise my arms after the last bell! I am confident in that, I have been in the ring with tough guys before, so the knockout rate of Casey doesn´t scare me.
