“I´m not afraid of anyone in the division” says Andreas Evensen after he defeats Willie Casey

Ringnews24.com: When you were waiting to be read out the scorecards both yourself and Willier Casey were holding your hands in the air. Did you think you had it, in the bag, or were you worried about the decision?

I thought I had done enough to get the Win, Yes. But, of course, you can never be too sure when it goes to the scorecards. I think I had the highest work rate and was hoping the judges saw it.

Ringnews24.com: The scorecard got read out as a Majority Decion: 115-113, 114-114, 115-113 for Evensen. Did you think it was a close fight?

It was a close decision but I didn´t believe it was THAT close! I worked hard and was throwing lots of punches while he had some furious power punches. So, I can understand why it was so close on the scorecards.

Ringnews24.com: You recently said to Ringnews24.com that “Casey will be a hell of a fight”, was it the ‘war’ that you expected?

Andreas Evensen: It was exactly the war I did expect, but I thought he was going to put a lot more pressure on me than he did. I could not stand too much, toe to toe, with him as I wanted and he was a bit dangerous with his head. Not on purpose I think, but head-butt’s is a part of boxing.

Ringnews24.com: If you could go back in time – is there anything you would have done differently in the fight or were you happy with your overall game plan?

Andreas Evensen: I´m happy with the game plan, we had to do some adjustment in the fight because of some cuts and swellings. But when he threw his bombs in the last part of the fight, I was just keeping my eyes on the ‘prize’ and refused to go down.

Ringnews24.com: You eye took a bit of a beating, how is your injury?

Andreas Evensen: My injury is going well; there are no cuts or broken bones – Just swellings.

Ringnews24.com: How do you ‘wind down’ after a fight? Do you have a party or some quiet time?

Andreas Evensen: This week I´m trying to get some rest and do some other things – other than my boxing training. My brother takes me to this climbing wall and I´ll play squash with my friends.

Ringnews24.com: Have you had a chance to sit and watch the fight again, any thoughts on your performance and win?

Andreas Evensen: I’ve not really thought about when I´m going to watch the fight. Not in this week.

Ringnews24.com: What’s next for the champ?

Andreas Evensen: I have to talk to my manager and promoter and see what they think. Usually, I just need some days off the boxing, before I´m back in the gym. I´m not afraid of anyone in the division, and just love to fight! Bring the next one, I say!
