Johnson, Sosnowski and Meehan in International Prizefighter

Three World title challengers in Betfair Prizefighter International Heavyweights line-up

Johnson, Sosnowski and Meehan joined by Dallas for June 20 show

Three World title challengers are in the first four names announced for the Betfair Prizefighter International Heavyweights tournament on Wednesday June 20 at York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson, Albert Sosnowski and Kali Meehan have all stepped in the ring to fight for World titles and that trio are joined by Kent’s Tom Dallas in the 25th edition of the eight man, one night tournament live on Sky Sports.

Johnson and Sosnowski have both faced Vitali Klitschko for the WBC belt, while Meehan fell the wrong side of a split decision to Lamon Brewster for the WBO strap.

Kingpin had been lined up for the first International Prizefighter tournament won by Mike Perez in May 2011 in a knockout night at the Alexandra Palace, but passport problems scuppered his involvement. Johnson plans to make up for his absence this time and is in good shape after winning the IBF Australasian title in Queensland in April with his 20th KO in 25 wins.

“I’m ready to put the American heavyweight boxing scene back on the map starting with the Betfair Prizefighter tournament on June 20,” said Johnson. “Like I tell everybody, I am the best American heavyweight – bar none! If people see me, they will know it. Don’t worry about Seth Mitchell, Chris Arreola or any of those other clowns. Just focus on me and watch me deliver. I’m the best heavyweight in the world that’s not named Klitschko, and after Prizefighter, I’ll take care of that too.

“I was devastated when I learned that I couldn’t travel last year to participate in Prizefighter. I was in top shape and ready to face every heavyweight in the tournament but I’m going to make up for that this year by knocking out everybody in the first round in all three fights. I’m not taking no chances so I’m bringing my A-game to London.

“I’m already coming off of a huge win in Australia so after this the whole world is going to know that I am back and ready to dominate the heavyweight division. I can’t wait to get to the UK and I plan on making it make my second home after I win Prizefighter.”
