Punters are backing Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson to win the Betfair Prizefighter International Heavyweights show

Punters are backing Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson to win the Betfair Prizefighter International Heavyweights show at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Wednesday (June 20).

Johnson is the current 6-4 favourite for glory in the 25th edition of the eight man, one night tournament live on Sky Sports HD1.

Kingpin is tipped for the top prize ahead of Poland’s Albert Sosnowski, available at 7-2 to land the £32,000 winner’s cheque. New York brawler Tor Hamer is the 6-1 third favourite for the trophy, with former USBA champion Maurice Harris a 15-1 chance.

Brazil’s Marcelo Luis Nascimento can be backed at 17-1, as can Moroccan-born Noureddine Meddoune. Odds of 24-1 suggest that England’s Tom Dallas has it all to do if he’s to win on the night, while Hatfield’s Tom Little is the least favoured for tournament glory with odds of 29-1. That pair meet in the final quarter-final of the night, with little to split between the two.

“Over the years Johnson has proved himself at the very top of the Heavyweight division,” said Betfair’s Alex Bake. “The only blemish on his record is a loss against Vitali Klitschko and there’s no shame in that. That’s why the punters are backing him for Prizefighter glory.”
