Povetkin vs Rahman off West Ham bill

Alexander Povetkin’s defence of his WBA crown against former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman has been scrapped from the Upton Park bill featuring David Haye’s grudge match against Dereck Chisora on July 14th.

Due to licensing politics ARD, the German tv network, insisted that the scheduled fight take place before 10pm but the West Ham United stadium has a rule in place that states that Haye vs Chisora cannot start later than 10pm. ARD requested that the Povetkin vs Rahman bout commence before the main event, a disagreement that has now effectively removed the fight from the bill and is now reportedly being moved to Germany to take place on the same evening.

Matthew Hall vs Gary O ‘Sullivan for the vacant WBO International middleweight title will now take it’s place, with Liam Walsh’s shot at the European version of the same crown also on the card against Domenic Urbano.
