Betfair back Kell Brook’s IBF showdown
Betting exchange supporting July 7 Sheffield blockbuster

Betfair are backing Kell Brook’s blockbuster IBF welterweight eliminator fight against Carson Jones at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield on July 7, live on Sky Sports.

The world’s biggest betting exchange, who recently signed up to be the new backers of the Prizefighter series, are supporting the huge night of action in Sheffield where five title fights lead the top class bill dubbed the Edge of Glory.

Brook is the current odds-on favourite at 1-7 to defeat Jones for the WBA and IBF Inter Continental belts in the night’s headline bout. Welshmen Gavin Rees and Kerry Hope defend their European belts against Derry Mathews and Greg Proksa, Lee Purdy defending his English welterweight title against Chris Johnson and Ryan Aston challenging Curtis Valentine for the Midlands Area middleweight title.

Team GB star Kal Yafai makes his professional debut while former teammate Scotty Cardle continues his progress in the pro ranks, and there’s a first outing under new promoter Eddie Hearn for Liverpool’s popular super middleweight Rocky Fielding.

“I’m delighted that Betfair are supporting the Edge of Glory. They have been big supporters of our Prizefighter Series and this will be the first of many Saturday Fight Nights for them,” said Hearn. “It’s the most important night of Kell Brook’s career so far and I know he is going to rise to the occasion. With four other title bouts and fights for Yafai, Cardle and Fielding, it’s definitely the best bill we have created this season and it deserves a sponsor as big as Betfair.”

Betfair’s Andy Lulham said: “Punters on the exchange are well and truly getting behind Kell for this one. There’s going to be a huge level of support for him on the night and the home crowd will help get him over the line.”

Kell Brook v Carson Jones – Betfair bet: 1-7 Kell Brook, 11-2 Carson Jones, 35-1 the draw
