Last night on ATG Radio we had the chance to sit down and discuss various topics with world renowned Promoter/Advisor/Matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz. We discuss his upcoming ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights card featuring Javier Fortuna vs. Cristobal Cruz, Magomed Abdusalamov vs. Maurice Byarm, Sergio Martinez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and much more
Luis De Cubas Jr., Taylor Made, Jesse Rican, and myself had the opportunity to discuss a very popular topic in the boxing world as of late, Drug testing. I asked Sampson if there would be Olympic style drug testing or VADA for the immenent Middleweight Title showdown between Martinez & Chavez Jr. I cited the questions surrounding Chavez Jr.’s recent suspicions in his last two fight. Sampson had this to say when I asked if special drug testing would be in place:
“No and I will tell you why not. I trust the Commissioner of Nevada. If you got to Olympic style drug testing for every major fight, sometimes you will medicine that doesn’t mean anything but some tests it will come up positive. If in the formula something is not right it will be positive. I believe this is extreme! If we want to possibly kill the fight then we would do this but we do not want to kill the fight. It is extreme and we want to see who is the best middleweight in the world!”
To hear the discussion in it’s entirety and hear what Sampson also had to say on topics such as Fortuna’s potential, Friday’s ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights event, Bradley-Pacquiao and much more you can listen right here on RingNews24.com. This was a interview not to be missed:
