Brook and Jones clash AT fiery weigh-in

Sheffield star big favourite with Betfair

Kell Brook and Carson Jones clashed on the scales at the official weigh in for their IBF World welterweight title eliminator in Sheffield tomorrow night (July 7).

Their fight tops the bill in the bumper Betfair ‘Edge of Glory’ card at the Motorpoint Arena live on Sky Sports 1HD from 8pm. Sparks flew again when they went head-to-head after they both made the weight, with Brook reiterating his KO promise in front of his home fans.

“Every time we meet I dislike him more and I can’t wait to knock him out tomorrow,” said Brook. “He thinks he’s going to do the same to me so it promises to be an explosive night – and it will end with another win for me.”

Jones took to the scales first and weighed in at 10st 6lb 6oz with the hometown star four ounces heavier than the confident American.

“I feel great and I know I’ve got under his skin so let’s see what he’s got tomorrow,” said Jones. “I’m ranked higher than him for a reason and everyone will see that in the ring.”

Punters on Betfair are confident that Brook has what it takes to defeat Jones with The Special One the big odds-on favourite at 2-13 to win in front of his home crowd.

Jones has been talking up his chances ahead of the welterweight world title eliminator bout, but odds of 13-2 suggest that the Oklahoma native has it all to do this weekend. The draw trades at 33-1.

Brook is odds-on favourite at 1-2 for victory by way of a knockout, while the 26-year-old can be backed at 13-8 to win by judges’ decision. Jones is out at 17-2 to triumph by KO, and is a 12-1 shot for success by way of judges’ decision.

Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “There’s a real buzz about Kell Brook and people are predicting big things for him. He’s a strong puncher and has excellent timing, our customers can’t see past a home victory come Saturday night.
