Haye back with a KO over Chisora

David Haye proved that he was the one that had the licence to thrill when he knocked out Dereck Chisora inside five rounds on Saturday night at Upton Park.

Haye did as he said he was going to do and broke down Chisora round by round, landing left hooks to the body and following them up with selective shots to the head while Chisora, who was 37lb heavier, continually came forward trying to pin his man without much success.

It seemed that the extra weight took it’s toll on the Finchley fighter when he began to clinch Haye from the third round onward, while Haye tried to get away and box.

The end soon came when Haye landed a left and right hook combination to Chisora’s head as he came forward and Chisora was sent down on all four’s. He managed to get up and was allowed to continue and tried to clinch Haye, who wasn’t having any of it. Both fighters threw a right hand but it was Haye’s that landed first on the jaw of Chisora who was sent sprawling to the canvas for the second time. Referee Luis Pabon waved a halt to the contest, sending home a pro Haye crowd happy.

Haye will now look to try and get a fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko while it is back to the drawing board for Dereck Chisora, who has now lost three in a row.
