Time to get stitched up: Enzo Calzaghe reveals his latest creative project

Enzo Calzaghe unveils his exceptional first film entitled ‘Stitched Up’ at an exclusive event showcasing the creative talent he has to offer, along with special musical performances from some of the country’s most talented new artists.

Enzo has teamed up with his son Joe Calzaghe to become the founders of EnJoe Productions, a company specialising in film, music and events. ‘Stitched Up’ has huge potential to become a real cult movie, with its hints of unique humour mixed with the dark, gritty tone to the film. The one hour, forty five minute-long film is completely unscripted, directed and financed by Enzo alone, which is set to showcase the range of skills that he possesses.

The narrative focuses on a supposedly Italian boxer who approaches Enzo Calzaghe for what at first appears to be a normal fight. However, it is soon revealed that the fight is part of a betting syndicate. This leads the characters towards a climactic ending filled with dark humour, which is evident throughout the film as you find yourself laughing despite the gritty undercurrent surrounding the family issues that arise when it is revealed that the Italian boxer in in fact Welsh.

The evening will be host to a range of musical talent, as well as a film crew who will be documenting the event. There will be a private screening for family, celebrity and press. The film stars big names such Kerry Katona, Enzo Maccarinelli, Joe Calzaghe, and of course Enzo Calzaghe himself.

‘Stitched Up’ was filmed over a two year period, which included several trips to Sardinia. The production team led by Enzo Calzaghe [EnJoe Productions] consisted of Glen Powell [SBS Records] and Nick palmer [Stir Studios].

“What motivates me is life! Just because I get to a certain age, doesn’t mean I have an obligation to become an O.A.P, or watch TV on a sofa. People have to do things in life, being active is what is important; sit down, and you’re dead!” – Enzo Calzaghe.

Following the preview, we have a highly anticipated performance by ‘The Kayas’, a 5 piece Indie rock band based in the midlands. ‘The Kayas’ have recently signed to SBS Records who are based in Newport South Wales, and are noted for initially signing the Manic Street Preachers.

After the self-release of their debut single ‘I Have Been Waiting’ last year, The Kayas gained big reviews, capturing the attention of the NME, Kerrang, Classic Rock Magazine, Music Week and A&R Worldwide who all wrote about the band. This led onto a prime time feature on BBC Midlands Today News, airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and a TV advert on MTV, MTV Rocks, NME TV, Scuzz, The Vault and The Chartshow, thus creating a large fan base.

The event is set to represent the drive and passion that Enzo Calzaghe has for not only boxing, but for creativity and life itself. From never having boxed in his life, to waking up one day deciding to support his family by becoming a trainer, his drive that lead him to become the number one boxing trainer in the world today, was recognised with a MBE in 2010. He is the embodiment of the message that ‘if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.’

“I am a searcher, I search every day, things in my mind, points that I try to reach. I want try to constantly prove the point that everything in life is reachable” – Enzo Calzaghe.
