German boxer Jack Culcay (11-0, 7 KOs) is looking to land his first professional title in Berlin on August 25. The man standing in his way is Frederic Serre (13-6, 3 KOs) from France. In the bout for the WBA Intercontinental Light Middleweight Championship, Serre will be placed into the role of the underdog. But the 31-year-old has already fought on German soil and was victorious. Now he is planning on causing another upset for the home fans at the o2 World Berlin.

“I am very happy to be coming back to Germany,” said Serre. “The closer the fight gets, the more I am looking forward to it. I want to put on a good show for the fans in Germany.” But of course the Frenchman knows that in Jack Culcay he has a young and hungry boxer in front of him. Serre has been closely following the progression of the youngster and even saw his victory at the amateur world championships in 2009. “I know exactly how good he is.I watched him winning the world title on my TV,” said Serre. “He has really quick hands and his technical ability is superb. He also possesses decent punching power.”

Nevertheless, the orthodox fighter believes that he has a certain attribute to his game that could tilt the scale in his favour. “Mental strength, that is going to give me the edge,” believes Serre. “I have been in many wars inside the ring but always managed to keep my composure.” But for now, Frederic Serre and his coach Nouredine Sahnoune will continue their preparations at the “Ring Club Valley” Gym in his hometown of Marseille, France.
