Andre Ward remains unbeaten

HBO World Championship Boxing September 8th 2012

Live From The

Oracle Arena

Oakland, California, U.S.A.

The night has final arrived, the showdown between 2011 RING magazine fighter of the year Andre “S.O.G.” Ward who will put his 2 titles on the line against Chad “Bad” Dawson who is dropping weight from Light heavyweight to face the current holder of WBC super middleweight title and WBA Super World super middleweight. Since they’ll be fighting in the super middleweight division Dawson’s WBC light heavyweight title will not be on the line. Many consider Chad Dawson to be the #1 ranked light heavyweight’s today, but he’s considered the underdog tonight because many feel the cut in weight may drain his power. But 1st will air a heavyweight tilt between Vitali “Dr. Iron fist” Klitschko and little known Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr as Klitschko’s WBC heavyweight title will be on the line. Then we will return to Oakland to get us warmed up for Ward vs. Dawson. As Antonio “Tony De Marco” DaMarco will put his WBC lightweight title against John Molina Jr. in what is considered to be a slugfest and possible fight of the year award winner.

Vitali “Dr. Iron fist” Klitschko 44 (KO 40) -2 -0 vs. Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr 21 (KO 11) -0 -0

12 rounds in the heavyweight division, for Klitschko’s WBC heavyweight title.

We have both boxers inside the ring receiving their final instructions from referee Guido Cavalleri. With the 1st round we see the classic Klitschko left jab has been established followed by a well picked right hand. Charr has tried to mount an offensive attack which are met by Klitschko, already there is a cut over the eye of

Manuel Charr. Into round 2 Charr has increased his offensive attack but he’s met with the long jab and superior counter punching of Vitali Klitschko. Wow Klitschko has completely busted up Manuel Charr right eye causing the referee to have the ring side doctor take a close look at Charr’s eye, the doctor says the fight can continue. Now with 10 seconds left in the 2nd round Manuel Charr caught a straight over hand right from Vitali Klitschko, Charr made the count and went to his corner. Manuel Charr has came out with a sense of urgency but continues to run into the jackhammer left jab of Vitali Klitschko, to Charr’s credit he has clipped Vitali Klitschko a few times during the 1st 3 round. At the start of the 4th round Manuel Charr comes out with a very ugly looking right eye, it looks like referee Guido Cavalleri has stopped this fight at the beginning of round 4 declaring the winner by TKO Vitali “Dr. Iron fist” Klitschko who improves to 45 (KO 41) -2 -0 and retains his WBC heavyweight title. Manuel “Diamond Boy” Charr record falls to 21 (KO 11) -1 (KO 1) -0. This was a very lopsided bout has most Klitschko brother’s matches are this one had no thrills at all and earn 2 out of 5 stars.

Antonio “Tony De Marco” DaMarco 27 (KO 20) -2 (KO 1) -1 vs. John Molina Jr 24 (KO 19) -1 -0

12 rounds in the lightweight division, for DaMarco’s WBC lightweight title.

We have Molina Jr and DaMarco await their final instructions from Jack Reiss, they have received them and return to their corners and wait for the opening bell. Both boxers come out swinging as we expected! Both throwing combinations and both are landing. Bang DaMarco has just landed a powerful straight right which backs Molina Jr into a corner and he continues to tee off on the defenseless John Molina Jr referee Jack Reiss steps in and it’s all over! Antonio “Tony De Marco” DaMarco has been declared the winner by KO at: 44 seconds of the 1st round. DaMarco improves to 28 (KO 21) -2 (KO 1) -1 and retains his WBC lightweight title, well John Molina Jr record stands at 24 (KO 19) -2 (KO 1) -0. There is going to be a lot of controversy over this bout, as many feel the stoppage was premature. We did expect a shoot-out but we thought it would last longer. It ended so quickly but Antonio DaMarco got down to business this bout earns 3 out of 5 stars.

Andre “S.O.G.” Ward 25 (KO 13) -0 -0 vs. Chad “Bad” Dawson 31 (KO 17) -1 -0 -2 NC

12 rounds in the super middleweight division, for Ward’s WBC super middleweight title and WBA Super World super middleweight.

Both boxers are in the ring the crowd is very pro Ward as Oakland is his hometown. Referee Steve Smoger, we have opening bell and both boxers come out to the middle of the ring. Both boxers are feeling out each other, Dawson is working hard to get his jab going but Ward is too quick to let Dawson put anything together. We’ve seen more in the 2nd, but there was an accidental head butt which left Dawson with a small cut on the forehead. The start of the 3rd both boxers are starting to engage more, Andre Ward has thrown a straight right to the body and follows it with a powerful left hook right on Chad Dawson’s chin which sends Dawson to the canvass in the last 30 seconds. Dawson made the count and finished the round. As the 4th round starts Chad Dawson does not look like he has his legs back yet and immediately Andre Ward jumps on Dawson. This was all timing Dawson threw a looping right hook and Ward quickly threw a powerful compact left hook right to the chin of Dawson which floors Dawson again. This was about 30 seconds into the 4th; Chad Dawson made the count and finished the round. We’ve seen through rounds 5 to 9 Andre Ward put a boxing clinic on, fighting inside and outside. Completely punishing Chad Dawson. At the start of round 10 Chad Dawson leaves his stool slowly, beaten and battered. It’s all over at 2:45 as Ward landed a 4 punch combination to send Dawson to the canvass he made the count but referee Steve Smoger seen enough and declared Andre “S.O.G.” Ward the winner by TKO 26 (KO 14) -0 -0 and retains his 2 titles. Chad “Bad” Dawson falls to 31 (KO 17) -2 -0 -2 NC and still holds the WBC light heavyweight title. This was a classic boxing match of how a smaller boxer can use his boxing skills to beat a bigger man. It earns 5 out of 5 stars and the fight of the night award.
