J’Leon Love 12 (KO 7) -0 -0 vs. Ramon Valenzula Jr. 7 (KO 1) -1 (KO 1) -0
10 rounds in the middleweight division.
We have both boxers in the ring and it’s clear that Love has a clear height and reach advantage, both have been given their final instructions and we await the opening bell. J’Leon Love has established the left jab and has gained the confidence to land power punches with the right hand, going upstairs and down stairs. During the 2nd round Valenzula has landed a few counter punches, but Love is easily been able to keep Ramon Valenzula Jr. on the outside. Through rounds 3 and 4 Valenzula Jr. has been in tough has he has been get to the inside of J’Leon Love. Ramon Valenzula Jr. has been able to get inside at times and land right hand body shots, he also used that right to use it to connect clubbing shots to Love’s head but nothing has hurt Love. Round 5 it appears Valenzula Jr. has closed the distance at times backing Love back into the ropes and pounded J’Leon Love body, but Love slips out quickly and gets back into his rhythm, keeping the fight on the outside. Rounds 6 and 7 we’ve seen both boxers change how they started J’Leon Love using the left jab followed by combinations to the body and back to the head. Ramon Valenzula Jr. did try at times to turn the bout into a brawl but again Love would just slip out and box, now Ramon Valenzula Jr has lost a point for poor sportsmanship. Now we have a stoppage here in Round 8 as referee Jay Nady has just disqualified Ramon Valenzula Jr at 37 seconds for poor sportsmanship. J’Leon Love improves to 13 (KO 7) -0 -0
And out boxed and out classed Ramon Valenzula Jr. who now has a record of 7 (KO 1) -2 (KO 1) -0. This was a sloppy fight on the side of Ramon Valenzula Jr. and J’Leon Love boxed well; with a better boxer in the ring with him it would have been better. It earns 2 ½ out of stars because of Love’s performance.
Lucas Martin Matthysse 31 (KO 29) -2 -0 -1 -1 NC vs. Ajose Olusegun 30 (KO 14) -0 -0
12 rounds in the light welterweight division, for the vacant interim WBC light welterweight title.
Both boxers who are oozing with confidence tonight, here we go with the introduction. No love lost between these two boxers as they are both hungry for a title. The opening bell rings Matthysse who is known to be a slow starter but not tonight. Ajose Olusegun has tried to establish his jab but he’s being met Lucas Martin Matthysse powerful counter combinations this has been the story for the first 3 rounds. In the 4th Ajose is trying to box his way back into this bout but Matthysse left hook to the body has been money in the bank almost sending Ajose Olusegun to the canvass. This has turned into a war as when it looks like Matthysse has Ajose finished he digs deep and comebacks with his own power. Were through 6 and many are wondering how much more can Ajose Olusegun? Through 6 rounds Lucas Martin Matthysse has taken Ajose Olusegun to school tonight. Round 7 Ajose comes out of his corner with his mouth open, Matthysse landed punches in bunches! No one can say Olusgen Ajose has no heart most every other boxer would have been knocked down. Anything that Ajose musters up to throw Matthysse just walks through everything. Rounds 9 Matthysse quickly gets Ajose against the ropes and hammers him with power combinations. At 1:57 Matthysse caught Ajose with a hard left hook on the break it was accidental the referee didn’t take a point. At 2:59 of the 9th round Lucas Martin Matthysse is declared the winner by TKO. Lucas Martin Matthysse improves to 32 (KO 30) -2 -0 -1 -1 NC and captures the interim WBC light welterweight title. Ajose Olusegun suffers his first lost and falls to 30 (KO 14) -1 -0. This bout was action packed just when you thought Ajose Olusegun was done he fought his way back, but the body work of Matthysse was the deciding factor in his victory. This bout earns 4 out of 5 stars and earns fight of the night.
