Sanquhar welterweight Rhys Pagan looks to make it 3 clear wins on October 6th at the Rivals Gym in Wishaw, as he makes his Prospect Boxing debut on “The Specials”, and after 6 months out he’s looking forward to returning to action “I have been waiting a while for another fight and its been a bit of chore as I like to be in action. I recently signed with Prospect and got back into heavy training in preparation for October 6th “
After a successful start of two fights, Pagan has joined the Prospect ranks and explains that the switch was a easy decision “I spoke to my coach Sammy Mullen who knew Paul (Graham) ,he arranged a meeting and when we went over what I was looking to get from my career. After outlining the plans it wasn’t too hard a decision ,and now I have got a fight on October 6th against Matt Seawright”
Like any young professional, Pagan has his influences and rather than look to the current or past high profile boxers, Pagan explains his is a lot more spiritual “ My biggest influence in my sporting and personal life has to be God. When I win, I believe its God who makes me win and spurs me on to achieve victory!” and Pagan will get the opportunity to share his praise with a former British World champion “Boxing attracts a lot of religious people, who go on to achieve a lot of great things. This November I will get the opportunity to meet Nigel Benn, who will be in attendance at a Christian Dinner I am attending.”
In the opposite corner on October 6th, Matt Seawright makes the journey up from Tamworth to face the 2 fight novice. While Scottish born Seawright has the more experience over the 19 year old, he is quite confident “While he has had more fights than me, we have a plan to win and beat him. He has fought 10 times this year so far and comes to fight ,but I think his age maybe catching up with him and I will look to exploit that.”
