DH: Talk about your performance in your last win, a unanimous decision over Guadalupe De Leon?
Miguel Flores: It was actually a very difficult fight. De Leon is a very difficult opponent, and I had never been on that kind of stage of fighting. Usually I would hit guys with body shots and they would fall. I hit De Leon with some of my best shots and he stood in front of me. We had to stay focused on the game plan and keep moving because we knew we weren’t going to get him out anytime soon because it a was a four-rounder. We were supposed to fight a six but it was changed to a four. We just stuck to the game plan. I listened to my corner, my trainer, Aaron Navarro, and I kept moving.
DH: That was on the undercard of the Trout-Alvarez fight. What was that like fighting on a big stage?
Miguel Flores: It was a little difficult the fact that at the weigh-in we had to wait on Canelo and Trout and everybody else to weigh in. But I got to see a lot of things that I hadn’t seen in my career. You know, the weigh-in, all the people at the weigh-in, I think they had more people at the weigh-in than at all my previous fights. At the Alamodome it was a huge arena but when a lot of fighters step up to the big stage that’s when they freeze. I felt good. I was relaxed. It was a good experience for myself.
