Ringnews24.com: You are currently in the middle of your training camp to prepare for Kevin Satchell(10-0), could you tell us a little about your camp?
My training camp so far has went really well. I’m getting the best of sparring and really good running in, as well, with the good weather we’ve had recently. So far camp is going to plan.
Ringnews24.com: How is your training going and how would you compare it to other training camps that you have done?
Like a said, training camp is going to plan. Everything is coming together now. This camp is different because I’ve had to bring in sparring partners and also travel for sparring and it’s a 12 round fight. This is my first 12 rounder so I had to take training to another level.
Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring in preparation for Kevin Satchell?
I started of sparring in the gym with the gym boys, and to be fair they are decent boys. I’ve had a boy up from Bristol at super bantam weight, Michael Ramablesta, which was good sparring. I am off too Manchester soon for a few days with British and commonwealth champion Paul Butler. I’ve also had help from Ricky Burns, so it can’t get any better then that, so I’m really happy.
Ringnews24.com: Have you done anything differently in this camp compared to other training camps?
Not changed my camp too much, just this camp I’ve had to train for an extra 2 rounds that I’ve not done before but l am always training to the best I can and putting everything into it.
Ringnews24.com: Many fighters are scared to travel, this will be your second fight away from home, what made you pick this fight?
I’ve boxed all over the world as an amatuer boxer so travelling doesn’t really bother me. I I know it’s going to be a hard fight in his own back yard but it’s a fight me and my team are confident we can win.
Ringnews24.com: Have you saw much footage of Kevin Satchell and what do you think of him as a fighter?
I have saw a few of his fights as a fighter. I will give Kevin all the respect he deserves but it goes no further then that. I’ve got the right to be at that level, same as him and I believe I’m the one who can take the belts off him! But like a said, he’s a champion and he’s not that for nothing.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?
I think it’s going to be a hard 12 rounds. I don’t believe he can stop me or hurt me enough to get a stoppage but it’s boxing, anything can happen if caught with the right punch.
Ringnews24.com: You are fighting in Liverpool, at the Echo Arena. Have you visited the venue before?
I’ve never ever been to the Echo Arena but I’ve boxed in Liverpool before at the British Championships and won so that’s a good sign for me.
Ringnews24.com: Your fight is set for 6th July, when will you go to Liverpool and what are your plans while in Liverpool?
I don’t have any notice of when I have to be in Liverpool for, but I will probably be in Liverpool the Tuesday or Wednesday before the fight so I can settle in and things.
Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? and what do they bring to Team Butcher?
My trainer/brother Eddie will be the main man in the corner and also Barry Clark and Kevin Morrison. They all are even with the corner position. No one is in complete charge and they all have there difference in training with me so it all comes together on fight night.
Ringnews24.com: How can fans watch the fight? Is the fight on TV and what channel?
Yes, the fight will be on Boxnation. I don’t have a time for my ring walk yet but if people keep checking my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/iain.butcher.1 I will get it up soon as I know .
