Ringnews24.com: What age did you start boxing and what inspired you to become a fighter?
I started boxing at the age of 10. I just went to do some training, when I was little my dad’s friends did it and I’ve been there since.
Ringnews24.com: What was your amateur record and did you win anything as an amateur boxer?
I had about sixty fights, forty wins and twenty loses. I won the Western District five times and the Scottish three times and I also won two silver medals in the British championships.
Ringnews24.com: What side of your game have you worked on the most since turning pro professional?
I have worked a lot on adding more strength as the pro game is a lot more about strength, hurting and wearing some one down.
Ringnews24.com: You are currently in a training camp to prepare for Jerome Samuels, could you tell us a little about your camp?
I am just working hard on my fitness levels and I am getting good sparring in. Tonight’s session involved sparring, hitting the bags and pads and a nice circuit to finish it off. The session lasted an hour 1/2 to 2 hours.
Ringnews24.com: Who have you been sparring in preparation for Jerome Samuels?
I have been sparring Rhys Pagan and Billy Campbell.
Ringnews24.com: Have you saw much footage of Jerome Samuels and what do you think of him as a fighter?
I’ve seen a couple of bits of footage. Jerome doesn’t like pressure so that’s how I will have to fight on the night.
Ringnews24.com: Do you have a prediction of how the fight will end?
No prediction but I will win.
Ringnews24.com: You are fighting in Cleland, at the Miners Welfare Club, have you visited the venue before and do you know much about it?
No, I have never been to the venue, but heard it’s manhood atmosphere.
Ringnews24.com Who is going to be in your corner on the night? And what do they bring to Team McCord?
My coach Sam Mullen and Davie Mcanally, had them all my life so they know me inside out and I know they can take me places.
